Job description

Duties You will perform materials handling, forklift operating, motor vehicle and blocking/bracing duties. You will have responsibility for storage and space using own initiative to consolidate materials. You will work within a multi-skilled work group/Accountability Control Team. You will perform functions such as receiving, issuing, storing, segregating and shipping of ordnance materials including ammunition explosives. You will use automated information systems and maintain an accurate inventory of assets. You will prepare ordnance materials and documentation. You will cut wooden blocks, wedges, bracing structures to be used in the blocking and bracing of ordnance. You will screen, identify, determine the serviceability status of Fleet returned, unidentified, or improperly marked explosives ordnance items. You will receive ordnance materials from conveyances. You will conduct inventories for magazine refusals, bounce backs, scan discrepancies, or other identified discrepancies. You will assure the quality, quantity, and safety of ordnance materials and operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This is a bargaining unit position. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current materials handling equipment license. (MHE) You will be required to obtain and maintain a current commercial driver's license. (CDL) You will be required to obtain and maintain a current "Ammunition and Explosives Qualification" certification in accordance with Naval Sea Systems Command Instruction (NAVSEAINST 8020.9). You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. For explosives personnel, you will be required to pass physical examination every two years until age 60, annually thereafter. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. You will be required to obtain and maintain an explosives hazardous material's driver's license to operate motor vehicles having a gross weight of more than 32,000 pounds. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Applying knowledge of conventional ordnance including ammunition, explosives, missiles, torpedoes, bombs, projectiles, rocket motors, chemical munitions, associated components, and various other hazardous items received, stowed and issued. Securing, marking, and labeling ordnance materials in accordance with all safety, regulatory, and government requirements. Completing shipping and receiving documents to insure correctness of quantities, identification criteria, and labeling.
