Heavy Equipment Fine Grade Operator

Our client is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support their Charleston area sitework grading projects. The Heavy Equipment Operator will be critical to our continued support of our customers in the Charleston area.Roles and Responsibilities:

The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating heavy earth moving equipment in support of company grading and site operations.

Construct/grade new roads, building pads and water retention ponds to proper slope and grade specifications.

Operate equipment efficiently to maintain production goals.

May be required to perform job requirements with little supervision.

General housekeeping and maintenance checks of equipment including reporting usage/utilization hours on a daily basis or as directed by supervisor.

The use of a shovel to move material will be necessary.

Working in varying weather conditions.

Keep company work site clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns.

Comply with all our policies, procedures and safety requirements.

Perform any other general duties as specified.

Responsibility to report to job site directed by supervisor.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Dozer: able to grade +/- .10 ft by traditional control, set up GPS and manually offset grade point, grade swales between building pads or rear drainage, lock slope on GPS and calibrate GPS.

Excavator: Able to strip, subgrade, pull pond slopes, cut & fill areas to +/- .10 ft of required. Ability to load trucks safely and productively.

Ability to recognize and perform what's needed to finish dress a jobsite.

Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.

Proficient meeting site fine grade requirements with multiple types of equipment.

Proficient and building retention ponds to required slopes.

Capable of set up and programming GPS devices on equipment and rover.

Must meet employment standards with regards to background checks.

Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 40 pounds of force regularly to move objects.

Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds.

Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time.

Flexible availability to include overtime and weekends.

Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.

At least three (3+) years of verifiable equipment operating experience

Personnel Management skill

Understanding blueprints/job design

Ability to design/set grades to accomplish goals off of provided surveyed staking and also benchmarks.

All candidates must pass background prescreen, medical questionnaire, and pre-employment drug test.

Must meet our standards with regards to the ability to pass required safety training.

Preferred skills:

Ability to Fine grade with a motor grader to +/- 0.025' of required grade.

Driver's license preferred.

High school diploma/GED preferred.
