Job description

MRC's team of experienced professionals includes engineers, technicians, program managers, and other staff that continually exemplify the high standard of work we seek to provide. MRC has an immediate need for a passionate and dedicated individual focused on national security issues relating to undersea warfare and the development of technologies to support US dominance in that domain. The Submarine Operations Analyst will provide engineering and technical support for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) Undersea Warfare Weapons, Vehicles, and Defensive Systems Department (Code 85). Work will primarily occur in-person at NUWCDIVNPT, with periodic travel (if necessary to support task execution). Code 85 provides integrated full spectrum undersea Weapon, Autonomous, and Defensive System solutions to the warfighter through technical expertise, cooperative innovation, engineering, and life cycle stewardship. The qualified candidate will support design and development of significant alterations to existing Navy submarine systems, support integration of existing equipment or software into different applications or platforms to support the warfighter, and support evaluation of foreign or non-developmental weapons systems, equipment, and technologies to satisfy existing war fighting requirements. Engineers will conducts rigorous and objective analyses that enable US Navy to make assessments, decisions, and plans to deliver warfighting capabilities via emerging undersea technologies. They apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economical solutions to technical problems. Qualified applicants will have a strong background in problem-solving and analytical skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to rapidly assess a problem, reliable to deliver on time, quick thinking, and be able to balance the requirements of multiple stakeholders. They should preferably be familiar with systems engineering practices and operational research and analysis. REQUIREMENTS
• For Engineer III: Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years' experience, preferably in an engineering discipline. 3 or more years of additional relevant experience from military or private sector may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree.
• For Engineer IV: Master's level degree with 10+ years' experience, preferably in an engineering discipline. 5 or more years of additional relevant experience from military or private sector may be considered in lieu of the Master's Degree.
• Excellent communications skills and the ability to work independently and/or with members of integrated project teams in the accomplishment of technical task objectives.
• Experience executing or reviewing technical studies, analysis, or design activities in their technical field
• Active US Department of Defense Secret clearance, with an ability to be eligible for a Top Secret Clearance (if required for specific tasking) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Professional experience in engineering, technical analyses, and/or operations research and analysis
• An ability to understand technical documents and tactics, techniques, and procedures documents, and compare those to programmatic requirements. Also, and ability to quickly derive information from such documents for presentation to program stakeholders with various backgrounds
• Previous experience with submarine launchers, weapons systems, defensive systems, and various undersea payloads, especially in the US Navy's Science and Technology/ Research and Development portfolio
• Experience operating, maintaining, testing, or analyzing weapons systems or complex mechanical or software systems especially those mentioned above
• Experience with Modeling and Simulation/ Model Based Systems Engineering tools preferred
• At least 5 years of experience in submarine operations or undersea warfare. Junior Officer or Department Head experience is a plus.
• Previous experience supporting engineering tasks in support of NUWCDIVNPT Code 85 is a plus.
