Job description

The Maintenance Manager oversees the upkeep of equipment and buildings, supporting manufacturing operations while leading the maintenance team. This role involves planning, organizing, and managing all maintenance functions and capital projects, ensuring that the fast-paced, technical textile finishing facility meets key objectives for safety, equipment uptime, efficiency, and service.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and company standards, executing them in a technically sound manner.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a cost-effective maintenance organization, including external contractors, to optimize performance and maintain appropriate maintenance logs.
  • Stimulate continuous improvement by defining and executing operational improvement programs within the maintenance organization.
  • Standardize work processes, procedures, and systems for the maintenance department to enhance efficiency.
  • Define technical competency needs based on manufacturing strategy and ensure the facility is properly staffed.
  • Collaborate with Production and Quality to create, maintain, and adjust maintenance schedules for preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations.
  • Implement and manage preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of all facility equipment while managing equipment, spare parts, and tool expenditures according to budget guidelines.
  • Lead and oversee preventative maintenance programs, review and approve internal work requests, and provide recommendations on capital expenditures, coordinating with engineering and plant departments on capital projects.
  • Coordinate and lead projects within the plant, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Operations and other Department Managers to support overall operational goals.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with environmental programs and lead environmental initiatives in the plant.
  • Ensure that the building and grounds are maintained to a high standard of safety, pride, and productivity.

Profile

Ideal Candidate:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering is advantageous but not required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in facilities management or a technical engineering role, or a minimum of 10 years in a maintenance leadership position as an alternative to a degree.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Proven ability in people management, change management, strategic planning, decision-making, and effective communication.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of chemical processes and project management.
  • Proficient in planning, scheduling, and using maintenance programs and tools.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and adept in Microsoft Office tools.
