My manufacturing client is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Assistant Controller to join our dynamic finance team. This role is a crucial position within the finance team, designed for an ambitious professional with a strong background in accounting who is looking to advance their career within our organization. The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards.
Description
- Assist the Controller in overseeing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports, including cost reports, to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and GAAP.
- Collaborate with operations teams to develop, implement, and monitor cost accounting systems and procedures to optimize cost efficiency.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, providing insights on cost control and financial performance.
- Conduct regular audits of financial processes and internal controls to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Support the Controller in preparing financial presentations and reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company's accounting practices remain compliant.
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ERP systems, Excel) and financial analysis tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
