Job description

Duties Brief the site commander regarding the purpose of inspection. Recommend changes to established deadlines and procedures in accordance with mission requirements. Provide hands-on assistance in difficult and technically complex tasks. Dispose of hazardous materials, and any emergency procedures associated with their use. Requirements Conditions of Employment This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 50% of the time. This position requires enrollment in the respiratory protection program. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain Scaffolding and Aerial Lift certification within two years of appointment. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to lead or supervise of a(n) GENERAL EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER without more than normal supervision. Performing common General Equipment Mechanic Leader tasks including working in the sheet metal painting, and equipment cleaning, electrician, and maintenance trades; and assisting lower graded workers with the most difficult tasks. Working under normal supervision of a work leader of journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT-Lifts objects from moderate to heavy weights. Climbs ladders, scaffolds, and may work from platforms or high reach equipment. May work in cramped and awkward positions and have to reach, bend, and lift while using tools, parts and/or equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS-Works inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions. Subject to exposure to dust and dirt, grease, fumes, noise, etc. May also be subject to cuts, burns, bruises, electrical shocks, etc. Safety equipment is provided to minimize hazards. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
