Job Summary

The Product Line Manager (PLM) role is a strategic role that involves managing a product line from conception to retirement. PLMs are responsible for the success of their product line, which includes its development, production, marketing, sales, and rationalization. The PLM works closely with various departments, including finance, engineering, operations, supply chain, and global sales, to ensure that the product line meets strategic oals, key profitability and metric plans, and customer expectations. Ultimately, the PLM is a mini business owner, focused on the overall prosperity and profitable growth of their product line.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:Conducts external market/customer research to better manage existing products or identify and develop products and/or services that meet the needs of our customers or differentiate ourselves from our competitors

Identifies and leads the commercial effort for new product development (NPD) or enhancements to existing products (DPD), from conception to launch

Develops and implements global product and go-to-market strategies, including pricing, communications, distribution, and more

Develops and implements continuous improvement strategies, including cost reductions, manufacturing improvements, sourcing strategies, and more

Continuously monitors and reports on key metrics, including market share, cost-to-serve, profitability, quality, delivery, comparative product performance, and more

Manages product lifecycle from conception to obsolescence, with a focus on rationalization and a simplified product portfolio

Provides regular reports as required

Responsible for setting specific product forecast quantities used for various planning exercises, acting as a liaison between sales and operations/supply chain

Collects, organizes, and maintains data on our competitors and their products, creating a competitive map (mekko)

Contributes to our overall annual planning process (strategic plan and operating plan), owning annual data and initiatives and ensuring alignment with the overall business

Represents the leader of this product group, acting as focal point for all thia ngs associated with the product line and meeting with external parties as necessary

Proactively drive activity on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to achieve these product line business goals

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

Excellent command of the English language or the language (written and spoken) suitable for the assigned region

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related business planning software (e.g. JDE, PowerBI etc.)

25% Domestic and International travel possible

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or marketing with 8+ years of high-tech capital equipment experience

5+ years in product line management

Technical background, understands fit, function, and end-user requirements

Experience working in an international environment

Strong analytical skills and background, with the ability to tactfully assert ideas

Working knowledge of basic financial concepts

Working knowledge of order pipeline analysis and forecasting

Demonstrated experience in planning, budgeting, and developing business strategies

Understanding of the SATCOM markets (preferred)

Understanding of 80/20 philosophy (preferred)
