Job description

The Sanitation Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the sanitation program to ensure that the facility is compliant with all food safety regulations and standards. This role requires a proactive leader who can drive sanitation excellence, implement best practices, and ensure a clean and safe production environment.

Description

  • Sanitation Program Management:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive sanitation program that meets or exceeds all regulatory and company standards.
    • Schedule and manage routine and deep cleaning activities, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
    • Monitor and document sanitation processes, including the effectiveness of cleaning procedures, chemical usage, and overall facility hygiene.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Lead, train, and manage the sanitation team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities to sanitation staff.
  • Compliance & Audits:

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations, including FDA, USDA, and other applicable local, state, and federal laws.
    • Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits, ensuring all sanitation records are up-to-date and accurate.
    • Address any sanitation-related findings from audits and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Work closely with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to coordinate sanitation activities and ensure seamless operations.
    • Communicate sanitation plans, issues, and results to relevant stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the sanitation program.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes that impact sanitation practices.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a sanitation management role within the food industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMPs, and SSOPs.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a proven ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with sanitation management software is a plus.
