Job description

Opening with our financial service client. Hybrid work schedule(downtown Pittsburgh, PA).

The Accounting Policy Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements. This role involves technical accounting, research, and analysis, as well as contributing to the monthly close process and SEC reporting.
Responsibilities

Assist with GAAP compliance by helping to establish accounting policies and interpret transactions.

Prepare technical accounting journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.

Contribute to SEC filings, including reporting related to the Allowance for Credit Losses.

Conduct thorough research on technical accounting issues and provide well-founded recommendations.

Assist with maintaining a current Bank Accounting Policy Manual, including researching, interpreting, and application of new GAAP and/or other rules.

Assist with researching accounting literature for application to new products, transactions, and/or accounting issues.

Assist with testing internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Support the implementation and monitoring of SOX compliance initiatives.

Participate in the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements.

Assist the Finance department in complying with risk management requirements and best practices for data governance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical accounting (public accounting, corporate accounting, and/or Internal Audit)

Strong knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.

Experience with SOX compliance and testing internal controls over financial reporting.

Proficiency in JD Edwards is a plus.

Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Financial services industry knowledge preferred
