Overview:
SUMMARY:
Production Planning Managers is the strategic mastermind behind efficient production. They orchestrate the flow of materials, equipment, and labor to meet customer demands while adhering to budget constraints.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include but are not limited to the following. The Company reserves the right to add to, delete, change, or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time. All work is to be completed with minimal supervision and in accordance with Company standards. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Develop and implement comprehensive production plans, considering factors like sales forecasts, material availability, and resource capacity.
Analyze customer orders and translate them into actionable production schedules.
Manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstocking, optimizing material procurement strategies.
Estimate material, equipment, and labor requirements for each production run.
Schedule work shifts and allocate personnel to production tasks, ensuring optimal crew utilization.
Collaborate with engineering and purchasing departments to secure materials and equipment on time and within budget.
Monitor production processes, identifying and proactively resolving bottlenecks or delays.
Maintain clear and up-to-date production documentation for seamless information flow.
Oversee production data analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for process improvement.
Generate plant capability studies and Inventory management tools.
Generate production reports to communicate performance metrics and progress to stakeholders.
Foster a collaborative environment, effectively communicating with various departments like sales, engineering, and production floor personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, or a related field or equivalent from a 4-year College and 5 plus years of experience in production planning or a similar leadership role., or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree in business administration or related field preferred.
In depth understanding of production planning principles and methodologies.
LANGUAGE ABILITY:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
MATH ABILITY:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other report writing and project planning software. Proficiency in using purchasing software and tools.
