Responsibilities:
Position Purpose: Responsible for leading all manufacturing and related service departments, including Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Tooling, Warehouse/Shipping, Human Resources, Customer Service, Planning, and ISO.
Essential Responsibilities
Operations:
Direct and manage the work of the Management Team and all plant personnel for effective plant operations
Direct and manage and coordinate production, distribution, warehousing in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by Divisional and Corporate Management.
Analyze mechanical, technical, and other molding process-related problems. Determine and implement results-oriented solutions.
Responsible for 5S and proper utilization of space in the plant and warehouse areas
Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees
Meet operational needs and requirements within budget.
Maintain close surveillance over operations through reports, staff meetings, observations, and personal contact to assure coordination and integration of work flow, timely production, budget conformance, schedules, and utilization of personnel, skill, equipment and facilities.
Coordinate and direct major projects and installations of equipment, major repairs and overhauls, plant layout changes to the best economic advantage and schedule.
Act as a liaison between management and supervisory levels by keeping personnel informed on management communications and policies.
Supervise and coordinate the various programs essential to manufacturing procedures, such as training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, wage and salary administration, and security.
Personnel:
Leads staff by:
Providing definition of job duties to staff
Proving training opportunities to staff
Conducting periodic performance reviews
Administer coaching/counseling as required
Develop and mentor Managers to ensure that they have the tools needed to perform their roles;
Defining criteria for advancement
Promoting cooperation with other departments
Enforce personnel policies and procedures; complete and submit all associated paperwork in a timely manner;
Assists in the selection of staff;
Promotes GMP policy, product safety, and daily cleaning;
Maintain safe working conditions with a goal of 1 or less recordable accidents and zero lost time accidents;
Control employee overtime hours.
Corporate Support:
Interact with corporate leadership and sales;
Responsible for providing recommendations and assisting in developing, establishing, and implementing plans and programs that will insure the successful continued growth of the company;
Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting to show plant performance;
Assume other duties as considered necessary by regional and/or corporate leadership.
Qualifications:
Education:
BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
Technical Skills:
Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and leadership to peers and subordinates
Production planning knowledge
Knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, rules and regulations
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
Possess excellent problem solving skills
Ability to resolve employee conflicts, problems, and complaints
Effective communication skills with the ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations
Ability to function independently and multi-task
Thorough knowledge of equipment related to the injection, blow molding, and reheat and blow molding process.
Financial analysis ability with 2-3 years of experience in budgets and cost analysis
Flexibility to work some overtime, as necessary
Preparation of cost estimates, budgets, correspondence and status reports
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and JDE.
Possess functional knowledge of maintenance, engineering and repair process of high-speed molding machines.
Experience:
5-7 years of progressive experience as a Manager in a high-volume plastics manufacturing environment.
