Job description

Duties Assist with project scope development by designing procedures for aspects such as materials, processes and manpower to meet mission objectives. Recommend design changes based on reviews of data such as plans and system layouts to improve production efficiency. Troubleshoot fabrication processes using precision instruments to ensure compliance with specifications. Consult with multiple stakeholders, including senior engineers, to advise on system requirements for project completion. Install components, such as equipment and systems, using precision devices to support engineering assembly. Conduct studies on components, such as systems and equipment, associated with weapons systems to support modifications and improvements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be willing to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Must be willing to travel on Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 25% of the time. Must complete a one-year probation period. Must be willing to undergo a physical examination initially, and annually thereafter. Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience for the GS-07 Level: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band that demonstrates the following: Applying specialized rules and procedures to perform basic evaluations of equipment related to technical projects; Seeking guidance from engineers on system requirements and technical methods for routine tasks related to industrial systems; Reviewing basic plans and layouts to support the completion of assignments related to engineering projects; Using precision instruments to assist in assembling equipment as part of technical project work; Reviewing established methods to assist in completing studies on components and systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Specialized Experience for the GS-08 Level: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band that demonstrates the following: Assisting with applying specialized rules to perform technical evaluations of equipment related to engineering projects; Consulting with senior engineers to gather information on system requirements for technical assignments in industrial systems; Reviewing plans and layouts to support the completion of basic assignments related to technical project work; Using precision instruments to assist in assembling equipment as part of engineering tasks; Supporting the development of methods to evaluate minor modifications to equipment and systems within technical projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Specialized Experience for the GS-09 Level: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band that demonstrates the following: Applying specialized methods to evaluate equipment related to engineering projects; Consulting with senior engineers to provide input on system requirements for project tasks; Reviewing plans to support the accurate completion of engineering assignments; Using precision instruments to assemble equipment as part of technical project work; Developing methods to modify systems and components as part of engineering projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Specialized Experience for the GS-10 Level: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band that demonstrates the following: Applying advanced methods to evaluate equipment related to engineering projects; Consulting with senior engineers to provide guidance on system requirements for complex tasks; Reviewing detailed plans to ensure accurate completion of technical assignments; Using complex precision instruments to assemble equipment for engineering projects; Developing procedures to complete studies on industrial systems and components. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Specialized Experience for the GS-11 Level: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band that demonstrates the following: Evaluating equipment in industrial systems using specialized methods to ensure compliance with prescribed standards; Consulting with senior engineers to advise on alternative solutions to facilitate production; Reviewing data such as plans, drawings and system layouts to ensure accurate completion of detailed engineering assignments; Assembling equipment using complex precision instruments to support the fabrication of engineering projects; Developing advanced methods to conduct studies on industrial systems and components. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Specialized Experience for the GS-12 Level: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band that demonstrates the following: Evaluating equipment associated with weapons systems using advanced technical methods to ensure compliance with design and production standards; Consulting with senior engineers to advise on system requirements for project completion; Analyzing data such as plans, drawings and system layouts to ensure accurate completion of engineering assignments; Assembling equipment using complex precision instruments to support high-priority engineering projects; and Developing methods to guide the fabrication and modification of complex systems and equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One-year probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
