The Simulation Technician is responsible for assisting the simulation coordinator and director with maintaining and operating mannequin-based simulators, task trainers and standardized patient program. Activities include setting up, operating and basic maintenance of the equipment within the simulation center.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates and maintain simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized simulators, and virtual reality procedural trainers with the ability to follow medical aspects of scenarios, and make appropriate adjustments to technology systems.
- Operates computer hardware and audio-video recording systems.
- Post-simulation, conduct post-course documentation and archiving activities as necessary, return mannequin or other simulator back to steady state (clean, replace and store props or medical equipment).
- Assists in maintaining an accurate inventory of hardware and software.
- Create troubleshooting documents, simulator checklists, and preventative maintenance plans for simulation equipment.
- Assists in planning, developing and implementing new and innovative ways to maximize efficiency
- Acquires and maintains skills and knowledge related to existing and newly acquired technologies.
- Enters information into software management system for both simulator-based and standardized patient simulations.
- Explains to learners the use of patient care simulators and related media and computer equipment. Insures student compliance with lab policies, procedures, and safety precautions.
PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit for at least 4 hours at a time. Must be able to stand for up to 5 hours per day. Must be able to walk 3 hours per day. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation. Must be able to see as it relates to general and near vision. Must be able to lift or push up to 100 pounds. Must be able to carry up to 25 pounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years related experience in simulation or education/training. Clinical background preferred but not essential. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, healthcare or related field is preferred. Demonstrated analytic decision-making, problem-solving skills. Knowledge of various simulation teaching concepts is desired.
