Job description

Job Overview:

Marion County Health and Human Services, Addictions Treatment Services, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director on a contractual basis to oversee its Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Programs. The Medical Director will be responsible for enhancing the delivery of SUD services, including prescribing and management of medications for opioid use disorders (OUD). This role requires a strong clinical background in addiction medicine and a commitment to improving community health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Oversight:

Provide medical leadership and oversight for all county SUD programs on a contractual basis.

Collaborate with county officials, healthcare providers, and community organizations to enhance service delivery.

Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding SUD and OUD treatment.

Clinical Management:

Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with SUD, with a focus on OUD.

Prescribe and manage medications for OUD, including methadone and buprenorphine.

Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.

Provide oversight to Nurse Practitioner

Program Development:

Develop and deliver training programs for staff and community partners on SUD treatment and management.

Quality Assurance:

Establish and monitor performance metrics for SUD programs to ensure high-quality care.

Conduct regular audits and evaluations of program effectiveness.

Implement continuous quality improvement processes.

Qualifications

Education and Certification:

MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.

Board certification in addiction medicine, psychiatry, or a related field.

Valid medical license to practice in Oregon

Ability to credential with local Coordinated Care Organizations (CCO's)

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in addiction medicine or a related field.

Proven experience in managing SUD programs and prescribing medications for OUD.

Skills:

Ability to provide trauma informed, person centered care.

Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Proficiency in electronic health records and data management.
