Job Summary:
Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of technical building controls systems. The Service Technician will answer and initiate customer contact while managing the Customer Records & Service Restorations database (CRR). They will take charge of the schedule, consistently log track, report and prepare invoices for all service events. The work includes but is not limited to: Engineering, programming, IT tasks, project management, commissioning and training for various building control systems such as; access control, audio, video and building entry systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and maintain installations with client contacts, site staff, departments, and various maintenance and construction trades.
- Maintain a daily log of events and time allotments expended on projects and tasks, needs, assessments. Reports to be update to CRR ticket associated with assignments daily with no exceptions.
- Perform physical access control system installation, maintenance, and repairs.
- Manage punctuality and quality of project/task timelines. Able to respectfully communicate and problem solve with teammates and management to assure that these attributes are never compromised.
- Maintain a safe and secure operating environment within the data center and report any violations to their immediate supervisor
- Detailed and thorough documentation and record keeping
- Coordinates equipment installation and delivery schedules in accordance with set project plans
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s)
- Must promote the company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners
- Must have working knowledge and skill in the use of hand and power tools, analog/digital test equipment, man lifts, RF and CCTV testing devices.
- Strong aptitude for independent working environment and high productivity rate
- Must be able to act as the company liaison for interface with customer representative(s)
- Must possess proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s)
- Must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones
- Required to work reasonable overtime on both scheduled and an emergency basis as needed.
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills
Tools:
- Tools: Cordless drill with attachments, Ohm Meter/Multi-meter, flashlight, head lamp, drill bit set, Hex Key set, 4 pair continuity-tester, tape measure, screwdriver set tone and probe cable tracing kit.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
- Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency
- English language skills required speak, read, write.
- Must have and maintain the CCNP certification
- Advanced knowledge of networked/automated electronic systems including knowledge of processor-based communications, alarm systems and software. Virtualization experience preferred.
- Ability to perform math computations as related to trade and ability to read blueprints and schematics; basic understanding of qualitative and quantitative circuit analysis. (3) years minimum of data center experience
- Must have and maintain current AV and Security journeyman licenses for the States of Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
