JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the direction of the Registered Nurse, is accountable for providing safe, age-specific, direct and indirect patient care within the scope of practice of the Oregon State Board of Nursing. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Samaritan Wound Care treats acute or chronic wounds caused by diabetes, surgery, injury, poor blood flow and/or other problems. The scope of practice is physician driven and centered around wound, ostomy and continence care while maintaining additional adjunctive therapies such as vein medicine and hyperbaric medicine. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS Current unencumbered Oregon LPN Licensure required. Healthcare Provider Level BLS required. PCH Wound Ostomy: Previous experience in a clinical setting and/or wound care preferred. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Social Perceptiveness # Patient Care: Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers. Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages. Possess the skills and knowledge needed to assist and care for others. Ability to recognize symptoms, drug properties and interactions, treatments, and preventive health-care measures within scope of practice. Adaptability/Flexibility: Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high risk or diverse patient populations. Ability to adjust actions in relation to others and adapt to offer best possible care to patients. Time management: ability to organize plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow up on pending issues.# Ability to adjust actions in relation to other and adapt to offer best possible care to patients. Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues.
