Job description
The Advance Practice Provider is responsible for providing direct consumer care to assigned consumers within an urgent care setting. This is a professional level position working under limited direction yet in coordination with a Lead APP. Typical work scenario require specialized knowledge, critical thinking, sound judgment based upon the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral, and sociological sciences skills, as well as strong customer service skills. Internal contacts include medical staff and management throughout the clinic and health system. External contacts include consumers, physicians, outside medical staff, and community resource services.
Performs and provides treatments for minor acute illness, consumer examinations, making initial assessment, initiating treatment and referring to appropriate center of care when applicable.
Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.
Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
Instructs and counsels consumers by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information and promoting wellness and health maintenance.
Develops and implements consumer management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care. May be required to supervise ancillary staff.
Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions and refers consumers to specialist and to relevant consumer care options as appropriate.
Demonstrates good organizational skills in coordinating services with co-workers and other departments/services.
Responds to stressful situations in a calm, rational manner and cooperates with all to facilitate integration of services.
Behaves in a professional and empathetic manner to build trust, comfort, understanding, and relationships with consumers and the secondary guest(s) and in-line with Studer Principles.

Foreign Body Removal
Fracture or Dislocation Immobilization
History & Physical Examination
Incision & Drainage
Nail Trephination
Nail Removal
Nasal Packing
Preliminary Interpretation of Plain Films
Wound Debridement & Repair
Wound Dressing
Minor Laceration Suturing
Required Qualifications
Education
BA or BS in Relative Field
Master of Science in Nursing
Successful completion of the American Nursing Association National Certification Test for Advanced Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner
Licensure/Certifications
Current State Registered Nurse
Licensed by the State of Oklahoma as an APRN
Valid Drug Enforcement Agency license
Approval for privileges by Medical Staff
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of experience as an APP in a family practice setting, urgent care, or related field Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of national medical best practices within an urgent care setting
Knowledge of and skill in the use of personal computers and related systems and software
Ability to work efficiently under pressure
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Ability to willingly accept responsibility
Ability to set priorities and use good judgement
