Job Description SENIOR ENGINEER SPECIALIST, LGTF MGTF LGTF, Wright-Patterson AFB Open Position Request Number WP-D-24 CLASSIFICATION: Senior Engineer Specialist, LGTF; Salary TBD GRADE: Exempt; Regular Full-time LOCATION: Landing Gear Test Facility/Wright-Patterson AFB (Area B), OH ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Work independently with minimal oversight to resolve moderately to very challenging problems in the area of responsibility. Provide senior level support for the testing efforts within the LGTF. Provide engineering support, including assisting in planning, provisioning, execution, analysis, and cleanup of LGTF test programs. Design, analyze, install, operate, maintain, evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical, hydromechanical systems, or electro-mechanical devices, and test systems and fixtures for testing. Analyze test request plans, data, and information to determine feasibility and costs of potential testing from a variety of customers. GENERAL DUTIES: P erform static, dynamic and engineering analysis of mechanical systems including analysis of torques, deformation, flexures, bending moments, stress and strains, rotational and linear velocities and accelerations or engineering analysis of electrical systems including analysis of a variety of circuits and circuit boards, control theory, control software programming, data acquisition, and data analysis. Provide engineering analysis for all phases of the test program using the appropriate PC based CAD and analysis software tools or using the appropriate PC based control and programming software tools. Utilize current knowledge of LGTF testing systems and equipment to obtain customer testing goals. Design, fabricate, and install test products, systems, support equipment, and customer test specimens for instrumentation, controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and heat transfer systems and digital video recording equipment. Support the preparation of test documentation at all phases of the test program. Document Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates, Method of Test (MOT) and Final Test Reports. Support the technical oversight of lower-level engineers and technicians performing similar test activities. Oversee, train, and assist other Senior Engineering Specialists and lower-level specialists. Job Requirements OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned to support contract requirements. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Either 1) BS degree from an accredited school in Aeronautical/Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering and ten years' experience at senior engineering level; Or 2) AS degree in Engineering Technology and fifteen years' experience at senior engineering level. Knowledge of and experience in using LabVIEW to develop software controls development/processes/programs and certified LabVIEW Developer designation is a plus. Required skills include; Familiarity and experience with common hand tools, electronic and physical measuring devices, test instrumentation (e.g., pressure, temperature, and strain), troubleshooting, machine control hardware, controls engineering, engineering drawings, documentation and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) is desired. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: May be required to work overtime as required with prior notice. Required to successfully obtain or maintain a secret clearance. Supports the company's operational objectives and is required to comply with company quality, safety, environmental, security and administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be capable of performing required tasks and support mission requirements in a variety of environmental conditions both inside and outside. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to perform assigned duties while using wide variations of physical effort such as sitting, walking, standing, crawling, climbing, or remaining in awkward, sometimes strained, positions for extended periods of time.
