Job description
Duties As a SUPV HR SPEC (MILITARY), GS-0201-12, you will perform the following duties: 1. Plans and schedules work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules. Assigns work to subordinate employees based on organization priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments such that the experience, training, and abilities of staff are effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs. Provides advice, guidance, and direction to employees on a wide range of military human resources and administrative issues. Interviews candidates for positions and selects or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and EEO and diversity objectives. Hears and resolves employee complaints and refers serious unresolved complaints to higher-level management. 2. Primary advisor to all levels of management that apply to all military personnel management. Oversees the development and administration of multiple military programs in order to maintain or increase overall personnel readiness. Responsible for military personnel management dispersed throughout the State. In addition to supervision, may perform work in one of the specialized branches: Personnel Readiness, Operations, Plans and Mobilization Readiness, and Resource Management. 3. Coordinates, convenes, and/or participates in one or more of the following boards: Selective Retention, Qualitative Retention, Active Service Management Board, Officer Assignment, Officer Career Management, Select Train Educate and Promote, Standby Advisory, Awards, ect. 4. Requirements Conditions of Employment Ohio Army National Guard Membership is required. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required within one year of the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Military Grades: O4 to O5 1.This position requires a SECRET security clearance; the incumbent of this position must obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments. 4. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. 5. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. 6. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : One year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience that prepared the applicant to perform the duties of the position. The applicant's educational-degree study program or military or civilian academic courses may substitute for some specialized experience. An applicant must demonstrate the specialized experience competencies (skills, knowledge, abilities and behaviors) to qualify for a position identified by its position grade and career level. Specialized experience factors encompass human resources program's business competencies, familiarity with the subject matter or processes used in human resources programs associated with DoD, U.S. Army, or U.S. Air Force. SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE : Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information If serving under an incentive contract, termination of that incentive(s) will occur effective one day prior to your AGR, Permanent Military Technician, or Indefinite Military Technician start date. Temporary Military Technicians will have their incentive terminated if their tour exceeds 179 days in a continuous 12-month period.
