Summary:
The Acme Machine Operator will have a variety of daily responsibilities including operating equipment and providing set-up and material preparation. Operators will be responsible for some basic knowledge of equipment routine maintenance. Operators must also be able to follow specific detailed instructions and work in a safety-oriented manner.

This is a good position for a person who enjoys working with their hands and using tools. You will be shown how to work with drills, taps and other cutting tools. You will be trained by coworkers with decades of experience. You will gain valuable mechanical skills in a short amount of time. The operator position is the first step in being able to perform repairs and machine setups. The skills you will gain will from this job can apply to other machining type work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain at least two machines
  • Responsible for loading machine with bar stock
  • Read various micrometers including non-digital depth micrometers & blade micrometers, comparators and other measurement equipment.
  • Read blue prints
  • Check parts using micrometers and other measurement devices to ensure parts are to print
  • Keep floor and bench clean. Requires mopping floor daily and wiping benches down to keep free of oil
  • Clean machine out as needed, but at least once per day
  • Ensure all product is tagged with proper product identification tags
  • Follow all safety instructions and wear required PPE
  • Perform various maintenance activities
  • Work with office and shipping departments

Qualification Requirements:

  • Must have mechanical skills to use various tools such as wrenches, hammers, screw drivers
  • Must be able to read micrometers
  • Must be able to read blue prints
  • Must be detail oriented in order to ensure parts meet print specifications
  • Must be cooperative and a team player
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must be able to do basic mathematics: add, subtract, multiply, divide. Trigonometry is a plus.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:

  • Sit, stand and walk on oily surfaces
  • Moving material routinely
  • Lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
Schedule: 10 hour shift

Education: High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • blueprint reading: 1 year (Required)
  • manual micrometers: 1 year (Required)

Shift availability:

  • Day Shift (Preferred)
Pay: $18.00 - $27.00 per hour
