Job Description Summary The exhaust mechanical design engineer will design, analyze, and own various components and subassemblies of multiple exhaust technology development efforts and/or for new product introductions. Focus on early Technology Readiness Level Development (TRL 2- 5) including conceptual design, testing, manufacturing, and interfacing with materials development teams. This role requires work to be completed on-site 95% of the time. As much work-life flexibility as the work enables is provided. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for Nozzle technology development, working closely with materials, manufacturing & test teams.
Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Design Engineering
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance at the secret level. Desired Characteristics Minimum of 5 years' experience in Design Engineering
Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Existing US Government Secret clearance
Demonstrated experience with exhaust nozzles, structures, ducts and liners
In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools such as Ansys, Siemens NX, Finite Element Analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
Familiarity with GE design practices, processes and products
Engine design familiarization
Operational experience working in and managing complex, distributed teams
Systems level thinking in a teaming environment
Ability to navigate ambiguous design challenges/scenarios and solve open ended problems with limited requirements Desire to lead projects with established project management skills
Innovation and creativity
Passionate, can-do, hands-on approach
Ability to guide and influence others.
