Extruder Operator

All SHIFTS

Work daily shift operations maintaining up to nine (9) extrusion lines and assist in the activities of production personnel engaged in the manufacturing function. Must stay familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Extruder Operator performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Extruder Operator ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Must be conscientious on attendance.
  • It is essential that 40 hours of work per week is accomplished.
  • Must understand production processes.
  • Tear down, clean out and set-up extrusions dies for 2 " to 3 " Extruders
  • Material Handling (mixing/ blending of virgin or reprocessed materials with or without concentrate or powder colorants)
  • Die cleaning, maintenance, care, and storage
  • Basic understanding of the extrusion process of starting with raw material to finished goods
  • Material identification and classification
  • Wiring of dies with heater band
  • Operation and maintenance of Burn Out Oven
  • Operation and maintenance of 2 " to 3 " Extruders
  • Basic understanding of downstream equipment (Pullers, Saws, Cutters, Etc.) operation and maintenance
  • Basic understanding of encoders, foot counters/ meters, rate meters, drives, pumps, compressors, coilers, and punches
  • Ability to start and maintain tubing profile extrusions and simple plastic extrusions.
  • Downstream equipment operation and maintenance
  • Encoder, drive, counters, pumps, punches, coilers, and compressor operation
  • Ability to start and maintain intricate profile extrusions, including co-extrusions of varying material types.

Extruder Operator QUALITY CONTROL:


  • Visualize, read, and interpret blueprint drawings.
  • Use of dial calipers and measuring instruments.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Extruder Operator QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/ or ability required.

EDUCATION and/ or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) mandatory for all new hires and three to five (3 5) years of experience with custom profile extrusion operating. (PLASTICS)

No special license or certification is required.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION:

Must have the ability to communicate in written form, technical and non-technical information messages and ideas using standard English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide.
