Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Cardiovascular Surgical ICU Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 3x12 Hr Guaranteed Hours: 36.00 per week Experience: Minimum of one year of nursing experience License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA or ARC) Must-Have: ADN or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing Job Description: - Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. - Report and be accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director. - Coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting. Essential Duties: - Education: - Identify and meet learning needs of self. - Attend education programs based on identified learning needs. - Use patient education materials relevant to patient population. - Assess readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers. - Determine developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn. - Evaluation of Care: - Identify expected patient outcomes. - Seek guidance in the revision of care plans as needed. - Engage in discussions with interdisciplinary team members in evaluating patient care. - Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care. - Implementation: - Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems. - Perform bedside point of care testing as required for patient care plan. - Utilize healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures. - Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs. - Consult appropriate resources regarding complex care issues and high-risk discharge planning. - Leadership: - Develop goals to promote professional growth. - Achieve goals and objectives within identified time frame or renegotiate with supervisor. - Facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration. - Participate in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities. - Effectively use communication systems and participate in promoting cost-effective care. - Provide feedback to co-workers and be aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines. - Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment. - Patient Assessment: - Recognize data from complex situations to determine care priorities. - Include physical, psychosocial, education, and safety needs in assessments. - Synthesize assessment data before communicating to others. - Assess and anticipate discharge needs of individual patients and families. - Develop relationships with families to promote their ability to advocate. - Planning: - Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update the care plan. - Utilize multidisciplinary resources in planning care. - Identify and address cultural and ethnic issues. - Prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems. - Research: - Review journals for studies or articles applicable to practice. - Bring ideas and questions to the staff for assessment of applicability.
