This is an opportune time to join the Raleigh team and have a stake in future growth. Projects in the Raleigh area are primarily large-scale >$25 million life science & healthcare projects.

Description

  • Cost Estimating and Bid Preparation:

    • Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates.
    • Quantify material, labor, and equipment requirements for each project phase.
    • Develop competitive bids, including budgeting and pricing strategies, for various construction projects.
  • Subcontractor and Supplier Coordination:

    • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
    • Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors and subcontractors to maintain cost efficiency.
    • Maintain a database of reliable subcontractors and suppliers to leverage for future projects.
  • Risk Assessment and Value Engineering:

    • Identify potential project risks and work with the project team to mitigate these risks in the estimating process.
    • Propose value engineering opportunities to maximize project profitability without compromising quality.
  • Project Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other team members to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements.
    • Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines to align with estimated costs.
    • Provide ongoing support to the project team during the pre-construction and construction phases to ensure budget adherence.
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Prepare and maintain accurate records of estimates, bid proposals, and related documentation for future reference.
    • Generate cost reports and projections for internal and client review as needed.
    • Track and report on project progress and any deviations from the initial estimate.
  • Market and Industry Research:

    • Stay informed of current industry trends, material costs, and construction methodologies to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
    • Monitor market conditions and pricing fluctuations to anticipate cost changes that may impact project estimates.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure that all estimates adhere to relevant codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
    • Review and incorporate any necessary compliance measures, including permitting fees and environmental regulations, into the estimate.

Profile

  • 10+ years preconstruction experience with a general contractor
  • MUST have experience in conceptual estimating/ design build
  • Previous life science, pharma, and/or healthcare project experience
  • 4 year Bachelors degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field of study desired
  • Must have an outstanding business acumen and professional demeanor to manage client relationships
  • Software proficiency with the following preferred but not required: REVIT, 3D Models, AutoDesk, Procore, Onscreen Takeoff

Job Offer

  • Base salary 130K+ contingent on experience
