Job description
Position Overview
Lead cross-functional engineering teams in the development of embedded systems and electronic products, leveraging strong technical background in hardware and/firmware to drive successful project execution. This role combines project management expertise with technical leadership to ensure effective delivery of complex engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
Lead multiple concurrent product development projects from concept to production
Define project scope, requirements, and deliverables
Create and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
Identify and mitigate technical and project risks
Drive critical technical decisions
Ensure project quality and timeline adherence
Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams
Lead design reviews and project status meetings
Technical Oversight
Provide technical guidance based on hardware/firmware expertise
Review and approve technical approaches and architectures
Guide system-level design decisions
Evaluate technical feasibility of proposed solutions
Validate engineering solutions against requirements
Support problem-solving of complex technical issues
Ensure technical documentation quality
Team Leadership
Lead cross-functional engineering teams (5-15 members)
Coordinate between hardware, firmware, and mechanical teams
Mentor team members on technical and project management skills
Foster collaboration and innovation
Manage resource allocation across projects
Interface between technical teams and management
Drive continuous improvement initiatives
Required Technical Background
Hardware/Firmware Knowledge
Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture
Experience with microcontroller-based design
Knowledge of PCB design and layout principles
Understanding of firmware development processes
Familiarity with communication protocols
Experience with testing and validation methods
Knowledge of regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field
8+ years of product development experience
3+ years of project leadership experience
Strong technical background in hardware and/or firmware
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Experience with full product development lifecycle
Proven track record of successful project delivery
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in relevant field
PMP certification
Experience with medical device development
Knowledge of quality management systems
Agile/Scrum certification
Experience with DOE and DFMEA
Background in regulated industries
