The primary purpose of the Vocational Health Care Technician I position is to ensure safety and individualized job skill training for the individuals served in the vocational program through direct support and service implementation. The position involves supporting the individual in all aspects of his/her career development process including the integration of communication, social skills, and community referenced skills into their work routine. The Vocational Health Care Technician I is part of a team that provides supports based on individual identified needs/wishes/preferences/strengths and potential for learning. These supports are directed toward enhancing independence and retaining skills that maximize resident self-determination. This posting is hiring multiple positions. Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following. Documented experience with carrying out training/goal programs. Management Preferences: Documented experience working with individuals with disabilities. Basic math skills of adding, dividing, calculating percentages, and averaging Visual skills to ensure resident safety, perform supervisory responsibilities, and to communicate effectively with residents and staff. Craft production knowledge and creative ideas. Strong program writing and documentation skills. Strong computer skills. Knowledge of PPS system or other program tracking system. Strong craft production knowledge and creative ideas. Experience providing direct care or active treatment to individuals with developmental disabilities. Experience working with individuals with IDD in a vocational setting (training for an occupation and its skills.) Ability to observe resident performance and give feedback. Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements: A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week). An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if: (1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date); (2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency; (3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
