Purpose of the Job

The Director, Charlotte Region is responsible for supporting the objective of providing outstanding member service and financial performance by leading and coaching a team of Branch managers. This includes working and strategizing with Branch managers to create a vision and plan that focuses on member service and meeting the needs of Truliant's members based on their financial needs. Directors coach, train, and develop Branch managers around soundness and efficiency in Branch operations, execution of Branch performance objectives, diagnosing performance opportunities, addressing human resources and team management concerns, and delivering exceptional member service. They also coach managers and partner with other Truliant lines of business to deepen member relationships.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Leads, manages, and coaches the financial performance of a group of Branches.
  • Guides a region of Branches to follow policies, procedures and programs and leads by example, bringing Truliant's mission and values to life for their employees.
  • Fosters innovation, the development of meaningful member relationships based on trust, and growth in sales and profitability, to support Truliant's long-term strategy for success.
  • Creates and manages adherence to department and Branch budgets.
  • Anticipates and acts upon employees' professional development needs.
  • Uses financial and operations reports to manage results and keeps within budget parameters.
  • Conduct consistent coaching and observations of Branch performance and operations.
  • Review of manager coaching and observation strategies to ensure proper development of employees.
  • Provides guidance to staff in areas of products, services, procedures and information systems to assure smooth operations.
  • Develops and promotes culture in an effort to build high-performing teams that drive growth in membership, lending, deposits, and other key categories, all within the confines of the credit union sales culture.
  • Develops cross-department partnerships to ensure that overall member needs are met effectively.
  • Responsible for following Human Resources practices, which include writing and delivering performance reviews, delivering formal remediation when necessary, and proactively recruiting and interviewing candidates for open positions.
  • Partners with the Director of Branch Operations to develop strategies, policies and overall operations management of the Branch network.
  • Partners with the Manager of Associated Products and Services to develop strategies, coaching and overall success of those products and services offered by the credit union.
  • Develop and execute routine monthly manager and partner meetings to deliver on the mission of the CU to the members and staff.
  • Fostering and supporting community outreach initiatives within the Branch network.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have thorough understanding of Branch management in a financial institution, with a strong sales emphasis
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of Branch and department procedures, strong member service skills, ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff, are multi-tasked, independent thinkers and have strong technical skills
  • Must have good working knowledge of various software programs, member service platforms, operations and Credit Union background
  • Must possess the ability to communicate and initiate change and possess a positive attitude while explaining and supporting organizational decisions, directions and procedures
  • Must have advanced skills in MS Excel and Word
  • Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible, compassionate
  • Must be skilled at strategic planning, execution, and analysis
  • Must have the ability to effectively manage managers
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of retail compliance controls, risk management, and loss prevention
  • Must be resourceful and well organized, with strong attention to detail
  • Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment required
  • Must be able to identify and evaluate business threats and opportunities
  • Must be able to work under pressure of time deadlines
  • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Must be able to work in a general office environment
  • Must be able to lead and motivate teams
  • Must have the ability to research and analyze various type of complex market and financial data
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation, or government law

  • Must possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds
  • Frequent travel, including overnight stays required

Education and Background

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field required, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years previous financial services experience required
  • 3-5 years previous leadership or management experience required
  • 2-3 years Multi-Branch management experience preferred
