YOU DESERVE A JOB YOU LOVE

Volt is immediately hiring a PCB Layout Engineering Technician in Greensboro, NC. This is a hybrid opportunity, needing you onsite three days per week.

As a PCB Layout Engineering Technician, you will be instrumental in creating test fixtures essential for the development and production phases of our client's devices. This includes the design and optimization of PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) using advanced schematic inputs from our Test Engineers, ensuring top RF (Radio Frequency) performance through simulation and adjustments. Your expertise will directly impact the performance and reliability of our semiconductor testing processes.

Within this role, you will:

  • Utilize knowledge in RF PCB layout, adhering to schematics provided by Test Engineers, to ensure optimal RF performance. This involves understanding and applying concepts such as Microstrip, Coplanar Waveguide, and strip transmission lines.
  • Conduct simulations of RF performance using tools like ADS, ANSYS HFSS, RF Pro, or similar, to preemptively address potential performance issues.
  • Apply a thorough understanding of PCB design principles, focusing on signal integrity, impedance control and matching, interactions between different sites on the PCB, and strategies for EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • Proficient use of PCB design software (e.g., Altium) and the application of Design Rule Checking (DRC) to achieve first-pass design success.
  • Collaborate closely with Test Engineers to simulate, test, and refine PCB designs, ensuring they meet our rigorous standards before and after production.
  • Engage in proactive feedback loops with Test Engineers regarding the performance of your PCB designs, seeking continuous improvement.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends and processes in PCB design, implementing innovative approaches to enhance fixture performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at boosting PCB performance, reducing layout cycle times, and increasing first-pass success rates.
  • Manage documentation meticulously to ensure version control and consistency within established framework.

This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience through military training.
  • A minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience.
  • Experience with RF simulation tools and PCB design software is highly valued; Altium preferred.
  • Strong background in PCB layout and a knowledge of RF theory.
  • Willingness to commit to occasional overtime to meet the needs of the organization.

Pay Rate: $26.00 - 32.50 per hour

Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
