Job description

Duties Presents the security orientation to command personnel and develops manning and budget requirements with the Chief of the commands, Guard Force. Uses subordinate supervisors and leads to direct, coordinate and oversee the security guard force and associated work at multiple facilities and across multiple shifts. Supervise the activities of a guard force over two or more facilities/sites, on rotating shifts within the US Army Special Operations Command. Conduct access control and limited law enforcement operations to ensure the maintenance of physical security standards are maintained. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain the Top-Secret security clearance. Incumbent is required to undergo, and pass, an annual physical and mental examination, at Government expense. This position is part of the TDP in accordance with AR-600-85. This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. This position is designated Key/mission essential. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid states driver's license. Must be willing to rotate shifts, e.g. Day - Swing - Mids. Incumbent must successfully complete an initial and subsequent annual cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certification. Incumbent is required to wear personal protective equipment, to include bullet proof vests, security/law enforcement equipment, and chemical/biological protection equipment. In accordance with AR 190-56, the incumbent must take and pass an initial and subsequent annual physical agility test (PAT). Incumbent is required to attend re-certification training at a minimum every 12 months based on availability of schools and/or training. Incumbent is required to wear a uniform, and maintain a high standard of appearance, grooming, and hygiene IAW AR 190-56. Incumbent is required to maintain proficiency, and qualify, in handgun use (testing conducted semi-annually). Failure to do so may be grounds for removal from the position and/or Federal service. This position is adverse weather essential. The incumbent must report for duty during inclement weather. Employee and prospective employee of this job are expected to maintain a high standard of conduct; and when being considered for employment and periodically thereafter. Incumbent must successfully complete all required Security Guard training. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position. One year trial/probationary period may be required. One-year Supervisory probationary period may be required. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
