Job description

Duties Plans, directs and executes region wide campaigns to convey complex information about IMCOM mission and Lines of Efforts Provides guidance and support to installation PAOs in all aspects of public affairs. Serves as conduit between IMCOM Headquarters (HQ)and installations in sharing communication strategies, information products, and responding to queries. Promotes and maintains effective working relationships with representatives of government, members of Congress, civic organizations and agencies, and with representatives of the media and partners. Responds to media queries, to include issues of a sensitive nature or which may draw adverse public attention. Ensures leaders are aware of current Army, Army Materiel Command, and IMCOM themes and messages. Provides guidance on activities and programs including digital and traditional media relations, command information, crisis and emergency risk communications, and community relations. Develops and implements communication plans to inform affected publics of ongoing initiatives including commercial activity studies. Provides assistance and consultation to installation PAOs in initiating and maintaining messaging with residents, specialized groups and community and governmental entities using organization's services. Serves as career program manager for installation PAOs, providing resources and guidance for training opportunities and professional development. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
