Job description
We are currently hiring a Manager of Building Code & Life Safety Services in our Building Engineering division. This position will focus on work in the Lower Hudson Valley and be based out of our White Plains NY office.
The Building Code and Life Safety Services team provides a wide range of services to public and private sector clients. This team is located within the Building Engineering Division which provides complete building engineering services including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering.
The Manager of Building Code & Life Safety Services (BC&LSS) will be responsible for the management of staff, clients and projects, as well as the financial performance of themselves and their direct reports. As a member of the Build Code Compliance and Inspection Services group, this position will require working collaboratively with other staff to review and interpret the code for the purpose of providing plan review, inspection and private sector code consultation. Additional job duties will include direct interaction with clients, business development, strategic planning and execution of the BC&LSS business plan
A successful candidate will demonstrate effective leadership experience, the ability to manage both internal staff and clients, and excel at written and verbal communication. This managerial position will require a motivated and hard-working individual with extensive knowledge of building design, construction and the building codes and standards that govern it.
Responsibilities
Lead, develop and grow the Building Code & Life Safety Services group providing efficient, profitable and timely delivery of high quality professional services.
Recruit, train, coach, develop, manage, mentor and motivate staff.
Direct management of staff, projects and clients is required.
Develop and implement business plans to grow the business and execute the work.
Identify target markets and services.
Lead business development and client management efforts for the group.
Lead and manage the group's proposal process.
Schedule project work and resources.
Manage significant projects personally, and manage and oversee project managers and technical staff.
Ensure compliance with QA/QC process and perform QC personally as needed.
Responsible for the group's overall P&L and project financial performance.
Work with managers, project managers and technical staff throughout the company as necessary to support multi-disciplinary projects.
Cross-sell the company's services.
Participate in company strategic planning process
Performs all other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or science field.
10+ years of experience in architecture, engineering or municipal code enforcement.
A minimum of 5 years of experience working with the International Building Code (IBC) and New York State Uniform Code.
NYS/IBC Code Certifications and/or comparable credentials are preferred.
A professional engineers license or architectural accreditation are highly preferred.
Salary Range: ($120,000 - $140,000)The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
