Job description
Overview:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Painter is responsible for mixing, matching and applying paint to various surfaces, completing touchups, and repairing sheet rock. Works with attention to detail while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Responsibilities:
Job duties specific to this position:
Covers surfaces and furnishings with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
Calculates amounts of required materials.
Fills cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
Moves furniture and equipment as necessary.
Removes fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
Mixes, matches, and applies paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes.
Prepares walls and other surfaces. Sandpapers, primes, fills or seals surfaces prior to painting.
Cleans walls to ensure proper adherence of material.
Applies paint to surfaces including canvas, walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
Applies several coats according to paint directions.
Tapes off work areas when needed for safety purposes.
Applies touchups or second coats as needed.
Removes paint splatters when finished.
Cleans up work area and all equipment, including brushes and spray guns.
Works on ladders to reach high ceilings or walls.
Adheres to all health and safety precautions.
Plays an active role in avoiding delays and having rooms ready on time for new admissions and transfers.

Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED or ability to pass Tabe skills test required.
Prior residential or commercial painting experience strongly desired.
Knowledge of commercial and construction painting, taping and sheet rocking techniques and tools.
Ability to complete projects on time and on budget.
Detail oriented.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to follow instructions.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding or ladders.
Current, valid and clean driver's license required.
Ability to work flexible schedule and rotating weekends.
Proficient with email and work order systems, with the ability to learn new software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, see, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to work in awkward and confining positions or on a ladder for extended periods of time.
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force with assistance, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work outside in hot or cold conditions.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Exposure to paint, fumes, cleaning solvents and other chemicals.
May be exposed to extreme temperatures during summer and winter months.

Pay Range $19.21 - $20.29 / hour
