Job description

We are partnered with a well-established Plastics Manufacturer that is experiencing substantial growth. Due to this growth they are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team.

Responsibilities:


  • Development of new manufacturing equipment with vendors.
  • RFQ management, vendor assessment
  • Cartesian, 6 Axis robots and associated automation knowledge.
  • Manage equipment installation and re-tooling projects.
  • Troubleshooting of mechanical/Electrical/Electronic systems, determine root cause of failure.
  • Understand use of different types of materials used in manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage 'new product development' secondary operation designs from concept through completion to include:

    • Outside vendor management.
    • Manage library of purchased and designed components.
    • Component selection and cross reference, pneumatics, mechanical, Electrical.
    • Select appropriate materials based on application.
    • Create cad drawings for CNC machining and fabrication, BOM and assembly prints.
    • Design and develop tooling by working with theoretical plastic parts and drawings with contingency plans for hot molded 'real' parts.
    • Understand, implement, and facilitate SMED, Kaizen, FMEA, on equipment and systems.


Qualifications:


  • 3 years of experience in Electrical Engineering Controls, in a manufacturing environment.
  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering considered with a strong electrical controls background.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with PLC control systems, cartesian robots, 6 axis robots, and parts feeding equipment.
  • Proficient electrical controls experience with Solid Works Electrical, PLC Development, Omron, Allen Bradley, Beckhoff or others.
  • National Instruments Lab View, National Instruments Vision Builder is a benefit.
  • Mechanical aptitude for understanding of automated machinery.
  • Experience with problem solving, troubleshooting, six-sigma and FMEA is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Successful history working with internal, external resources, and customers on all levels
