Description

The Department of Pathology at the Renaissance School of Medicine, Stony Brook University, is seeking a Surgical Pathologist to serve both as an attending surgical pathologist and as the Director of Digital Pathology. Other senior level administrative opportunities in Surgical Pathology may also be available, depending on the candidates interests and qualifications.


Academic rank at the Stony Brook University Renaissance School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and academic record.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


MD, DO (or foreign equivalent). American Board of Pathology board eligible or certified in Anatomic Pathology. Eligibility for New York State licensure. Strong diagnostic skills and the potential to serve as an outstanding educator of medical students, pathology residents, and clinical fellows. Evidence of motivation and interests in research or other areas of scholarship in Pathology. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in use of digital pathology for primary diagnosis of surgical pathology specimens.


Preferred Qualifications:


Board certification or experience in surgical pathology, potentially including but not limited to gynecologic, breast, genitourinary, head & neck, pulmonary, pediatric, and/or perinatal pathology. Experience in stewardship of digital pathology for primary diagnosis of surgical pathology specimens, from validation to implementation of digital pathology systems, as well experience in training of faculty, residents, and staff and ongoing program development in digital pathology.
