Position Summary
Math multiplies future opportunities and in Poughkeepsie, our kids need help building their skills. Join Math Corps (an AmeriCorps program) and together we can set children up for success! We're now hiring for positions that begin January 2025 and end in June 2025.
As a Math Corps Tutor, you'll spend your days working with students (kindergarten-third grade) to help them build a strong foundation. You'll lead activities to provide extra practice and skill building for groups of 2 or 3 students at a time.
With great training, a predictable weekday schedule (35 hours per week max) and time off for holidays/release days, this is a great option for parents, grandparents, career changers and recent grads.

Schedule:
January 2025 - June 2025
Monday-Friday (hours correspond with school start and end times)
35 hours per week (less in weeks with holidays or school release days)
Part-time positions are also available at 25 and 18 hrs per week!
How You'll Take Action
Be a caring adult who's focused on helping students build their skills and confidence
Lead scripted activities and track student progress
Conduct short skills assessments and enter scores online
Meet regularly with your onsite coach and participate in training and professional development
Represent Math Corps at school events and share your experience with the community to raise awareness.

Math Corps helps people make an incredible difference as tutors. We look for passionate people who are interested in creating brighter futures. As AmeriCorps members, all tutors must meet the following minimum requirements by the time they begin their service:
Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
Able to complete the .

Energized by young learners and ready to help them discover new things
Eager to work collaboratively with the classroom teaching team
Dependable with a history of good attendance
Able to understand and follow instructions
Open to making improvements based on feedback
Proficient with basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)

While you're making a difference, you'll receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks and additional perks!
Pay:
$16+ per hour
Paid in equal installments of $900 stipend every two weeks
