Job description

The HR Manager will play a crucial role in shaping the company's HR strategy and overseeing the full employee life cycle for our 100 corporate employees. This includes recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding. The HR Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance employee retention, build company culture, and increase employee engagement.

A leading construction company headquartered in Ronkonkoma, New York, committed to delivering high-quality projects while fostering a positive and collaborative workplace is hiring for an HR Manager. This person will build a robust HR department from the ground up.

Description

  • HR Department Development: Establish and develop the HR function within the company, including creating policies, procedures, and systems to support the business.
  • Employee Life Cycle Management: Oversee all aspects of the employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the recruitment process for corporate roles, including job posting, candidate screening, interviewing, and selection. Ensure a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience for new hires.
  • Performance Management: Develop and manage the performance management process, including setting performance standards, conducting performance reviews, and implementing improvement plans.
  • Employee Retention & Engagement: Design and implement strategies to retain top talent, build a strong company culture, and enhance employee engagement through initiatives, programs, and events.
  • Policy Development: Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, conflicts, and inquiries, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Company Culture: Work closely with leadership to foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative company culture aligned with the company's values and mission.
  • HR Metrics & Reporting: Track and analyze HR metrics to identify trends and make data-driven decisions to improve HR practices.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, preferably in the construction or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in building and developing HR departments from the ground up.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
