Job description

We are a leading comprehensive Health and Human Services agency with over 60 programs throughout the New York City and Greater New York area. Serving over 33,000 individuals annually, our organization's success depends on our dedicated staff. We are currently seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead and manage nursing staff within our Clinical Division, ensuring high-quality care and efficient operations.

Role Summary:

The Director of Nursing is responsible for the management and oversight of nursing staff within the Clinical division. This role involves assuming authority, responsibility, and accountability for nursing services and collaborating with other departments, medical professionals, and advocacy groups to ensure the provision of timely, appropriate, and high-quality care. The Director of Nursing will supervise staff, develop policies, and ensure compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage nursing staff, providing supervision, guidance, and support to ensure high-quality care for clients.

Monitor and optimize workflow and productivity within the nursing team, addressing issues that arise to improve efficiency.

Oversee hiring, training, and performance evaluations of nursing staff, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Supervise patient care, ensuring that nursing services meet best practice standards and regulatory requirements.

Develop and update policies to improve care standards and communicate these to staff for implementation.

Provide direct patient care when necessary and support medical professionals in assessing changes in patient health.

Offer medication administration training and evaluate the competencies of Health Care Coordinators.

Collaborate with clinical staff to address client needs and integrate these into daily operations.

Ensure compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations, including OASAS, Joint Commission, and CSAT guidelines.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory nursing experience, with at least three (3) years in a hospital, substance use, or behavioral healthcare setting.

Certification: BLS Certification.

Strong understanding of New York State healthcare regulations and ability to travel to various agency sites as needed.

Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program and staff needs.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records (EHR).

Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Experience working with diverse populations and maintaining confidentiality of patient records.

In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws governing substance abuse treatment, confidentiality, and patient privacy.
