Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will be based in our Brewster, NY office and report directly to the Controller. This individual will play a key role in preparing monthly financial statements, analyzing reports, and reviewing account reconciliations. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing work papers and gathering relevant documentation for third-party audits. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a solid foundation in accounting principles and practices, possess excellent communication and presentation abilities, and exhibit strong business acumen.
Essential Functions:
1. Results matter. Review and approve journal entries for accurate posting to the general ledger.
2. Prepare journal adjustments for the month-end close process.
3. Compile and analyze data from the general ledger to prepare both internal and external consolidated financial statements.
4. Review monthly account reconciliations for various Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts.
5. Focused. Analyze plant expenses and conduct qualitative reviews of variances, including comparisons to budget and prior year results.
6. Mastery. Provide insights and answers to accounting and financial inquiries by researching and interpreting relevant data.
7. Respect and engage. Support external auditors by preparing work papers and gathering necessary account information and documentation for the annual audit.
8. Dedication. Independently conduct analyses or prepare reports to fulfill specific project requirements.
9. Oversee general accounting functions, including capital expenditures, payroll reconciliations, and job cost entries.
10. Ownership and caring. Maintain and manage the schedule for tax filings and ensure timely payments.
11. Obligated. Assist in identifying and implementing ERP system enhancements.
12. Transparency and learning. Stay current on and maintain knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and procedures.
Requirements, Education and Experience:
1. Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
2. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance within a manufacturing or construction environment.
3. Public accounting experience is preferred.
4. Demonstrated expertise in managing financial data and numeric analysis.
5. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel is required; skills in Word, PowerPoint, and familiarity with Tableau and/or Vista are a plus.
6. Strong knowledge of SFAS/GAAP rules and reporting standards.
7. Exceptional analytical abilities.
8. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in professional English.
9. Proven ability to prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and timely completion.
10. Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Travel:
This position may require up to 5% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
This job operates in an office and professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. On occasion the job will require going out in the field and various organizations and schools/institutions. This is mostly sedentary outside of travel in an office space. This would require the ability to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bending or standing as necessary.
