The Gund Company has an immediate opening at our Amsterdam, NY manufacturing plant for a full-time Human Resource Generalist to join our team!

Annual Starting Salary: $70,000+

Plant/Work Location: 200 Wallins Corners Road

We are the industry leader in manufacturing and fabricating customized insulation components (parts) for multiple applications. We manufacture and fabricate custom parts from drawings and sample parts (reverse engineering). The Gund Company is in the business of engineered material manufacturing.

What are we looking for?

The HR Generalist will provide support in functional areas of the facility's Human Resources department, which includes recruitment and employment, personnel records, employee relations, compensation management, benefits administration, organization development and training, occupational health, safety, and security. The HR Specialist acts as an advisor, coach, and guide in all aspects of the employment life cycle.


What specifically will you be doing?

  • Partner with leadership and management in execution of HR programs and initiatives to support organizational key values.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and support multi-site recruiting to obtain qualified applicant pool. Support and coordinate all pre-employment screening requirements, including background checks, employment verifications, and pre-employment drug screens and physicals.
  • Oversee completion of new hire orientation.
  • Support performance management process including review of annual goals, periodic process administration, and assisting managers with Performance Improvement Plans and Individual Development Plans.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to Managers and Supervisors to improve leadership effectiveness.
  • Oversee progressive disciplinary actions in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Administer alcohol and drug testing program in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Lead safety program in accordance with established business processes.
  • Coordinate investigation of workplace injuries and near miss incidents.
  • Administer workers compensation claims process.
Requirements:

What do we need from you?

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of HR experience with exposure to employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, training and development, and recruitment is preferred.
  • Experience in Industrial Manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Certification in Human Resources preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the practices and principles of Human Resources including FMLA, ADA, worker's compensation, safety administration, benefits, and employee relations.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of employees and management.
  • Experience with HRIS (HCM) systems. (Paylocity experience is a plus)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively under pressure and deal with multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential material and information in an ethical, professional manner and process the local payroll function.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.


Travel

Employee must be able to travel 10% of the time.
