Job description

Summary:

The Network Administrator works to maintain, analyze, trouble-shoot and repair computer systems, hardware, computer peripherals and networking equipment and wiring. Document, maintain, provides upgrades or replaces systems, software and networking equipment as needed. Maintain user account information including access rights, security and system groups. This position has a wide degree of creativity and latitude to accomplish tasks.

Essential Functions:

  1. Monitors the computer network; installs, configures computers and software.
  2. Monitor the networking infrastructure; installs and configures networking hardware.
  3. Completes data entry or other documentation as required in the computer or other locations.
  4. Works with users to promote the use of automation.
  5. Serves as part of after-hours call service support team.
  6. Other duties as assigned by department manager within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities which could be considered essential within the function of this position.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience required
  • Bachelor degree in computer science or similar field or equivalent professional experience preferred.

Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience in the computer and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of computer networks, network protocols and topologies.
  • The ability to make critical judgements and work independently.
  • Interpersonal skills and customer service concepts

RELATIONSHIP REPORTING

  1. Reports to the IT Manager

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to stand, walk, or view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  2. Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods of time.
  3. Involves sitting approximately 70 percent of the day, walking, or standing the remainder and during training programs.
