OPEN: 4 Nov 2024 CLOSES: 18 Nov 2024 Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is seeking a full-time General Engineer (M) to work as the Systems Engineer in Nuclear Systems Integration Division (NDS) of the Air Delivered Capabilities Directorate, Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM. This position is a NH-0801-03 which has a typical 2024 salary range of $87,878- $135,851 (locality included). Recruitment incentives and or relocation costs might be offered upon review of qualifications, and other significant factors. This position is eligible for situational telework but regular access to classified systems is required. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Systems Engineer within the Nuclear Systems Integration Division, responsible for the USAF's roles in Joint Nuclear Weapon Lifecycle activities for the air-delivered components of the United States' nuclear triad. DUTIES: Lead system engineering activities to establish and maintain nuclear weapons and tactical/strategic delivery platform integration requirements focused on achieving effective and reliable weapon performance. Collaborate with National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), Aircraft and Cruise Missile platform System Program Offices (SPO) to refine, track and allocate interface requirements and documentation, validate platform interface designs through test and evaluation, and document integration status and limitations across weapon system lifecycles. Conduct activities across a spectrum of test, assessment and evaluation to include emerging simulation and digital engineering methodologies. Provide technical oversight of sustainment engineering and surveillance efforts including Technical Reviews, Test Plans, Test Reports, Engineering and Technical Assistance Requests and technical evaluation events. Advise senior leadership and Lead Project Officers (LPO) on integration and sustainment activities, identifying and managing weapon to platform compatibility issues, and tracking weapon system reliability and effectiveness risks and mitigation efforts. This position is eligible for situational telework but regular access to classified systems is required. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge, experience and demonstrated competence in the areas of systems engineering and associated methodologies and tools. Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering theories, concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment. Ability to orally present and express ideas, information and concepts clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience. Experience in preparing technical reports informing programmatic decisions with supported recommendations and written summaries of results from synthesized data and/or metric analysis. Experience in risk and opportunity management. Experience in establishing project/program goals, objectives, and completion strategies. Ability to effectively communicate and build consensus across disparate system stakeholders. Highly desirable for applicant to have experience with nuclear weapon system programs and ability to interpret nuclear weapons and related nuclear enterprise policies. Desirable for applicant to have knowledge of aging nuclear weapon systems and Nuclear Safety Certification Procedures. Desirable for applicant to have experience with DoD acquisition policy and planning. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION: U.S. CITIZENSHIP Obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET-accredited institution (Master's Degree highly desired). Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must This position will be coded under the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP), Engineering & Technical Management - Practitioner certification is required within 24 months. This position has been designated an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act requirements applicable to the duties of the position. Certifications in Engineering is desirable.
