Description
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist - Manufacturing will be responsible for the following:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Lead and oversee the EHS team, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the manufacturing facility to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate controls and corrective actions.
- Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop effective root cause analysis and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate and facilitate employee training programs on safety procedures, hazard recognition, emergency response protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and regulatory permits.
- Stay abreast of changes in EHS regulations, standards, and industry trends, and ensure timely updates and implementation of necessary changes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into planning, design, and implementation of new processes, equipment, and facilities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, conduct inspections, and ensure timely reporting and compliance with permits and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Manage waste disposal, recycling programs, pollution prevention initiatives, and other environmental sustainability efforts.
- Lead emergency response preparedness efforts and coordinate with external agencies and stakeholders as necessary.
- Prepare and present regular reports on EHS performance, key metrics, trends, and improvement initiatives to senior management.
Profile
The ideal Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist - Manufacturing will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing environment.
- Industrial Hygiene (IH) experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA) is a plus.
Job Offer
The successful Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist- Manufacturing will be rewarded with:
- Base Salary of $80,000-$110,000 depending on experience
