Overview

This position will oversee the development, implementation, and management of business support and contract management activities within the Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance (DSPV) department. The role ensures that all processes align with regulatory requirements and company policies, enhancing efficiency and compliance within the pharmacovigilance function. Responsibilities include the development, negotiation, and management of all DSPV-related contracts and business operations. The Associate Director will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and strategic partners to support the overall DSPV strategy.

Responsibilities

Contract Management:
  • Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, including development, review, negotiation, and changes.
  • Manage contract renewals, amendments, and terminations with stakeholders.
  • Document contract-related communications and decisions.
  • Maintain an organized system for contract documentation, ensuring accessibility and compliance.
  • Ensure contracts comply with global regulations and internal procedures.
  • Monitor vendor performance and adherence to contract terms, establishing KPIs and conducting reviews.
Business Operations and Support:
  • Oversee DSPV business operations, including budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and report on operations performance, identifying improvements and ensuring cohesive management with internal stakeholders.
  • Assess risks in DSPV contracts and operations to optimize processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Act as the primary contact for DSPV-related business and contract issues, ensuring smooth communication and resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners for cohesive contract and business management.
Budget Management and Financial Planning:
  • Manage the DSPV department's annual budget, aligning with strategic goals.
  • Lead the development of financial forecasts and long-term plans.
  • Monitor expenditures against the budget, providing updates and variance analyses to DSPV Leadership.
  • Prepare financial models and scenario analyses, implementing cost-saving initiatives.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams for accurate financial reporting and resolving discrepancies.
  • Provide recommendations based on financial analysis to support business planning.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, nursing, another healthcare-related profession, or life sciences; an additional postgraduate degree such as an MBA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry in Pharmacovigilance, and 4+ years in contract management.
  • Proven experience in developing, negotiating, and managing complex PV service contracts, including Safety Data Exchange Agreements, PV Agreements, and PV Clauses.
  • Proficient in financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation to optimize operations and meet organizational goals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global pharmacovigilance regulations and guidelines (e.g., FDA, EMA, ICH, MHRA).
  • Strong negotiation skills with a record of securing favorable terms and conditions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with internal stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and external partners.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage competing deadlines.
  • Effective team player with sound decision-making skills within the scope of responsibility, seeking input when necessary.
  • Consistently meets deadlines and prioritizes responsibilities, consulting management as needed.

Salary Range

$147,000 - $206,333 a year
