The Director of Operations at our foundry will oversee all aspects of production, from strategic planning to daily operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety in the manufacturing process. This role involves leading a team, optimizing processes, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to meet production targets and drive operational excellence.

Description

This role will report directly into the General Manager and be responsible for:

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity within the foundry.

  • Production Management: Oversee daily foundry operations, including casting, molding, and finishing processes, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.

  • Resource Allocation: Manage and optimize the allocation of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to meet production goals effectively.

  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.

  • Budget Management: Prepare, monitor, and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost control and alignment with financial objectives.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products meet quality standards through rigorous testing and quality control procedures.

  • Safety Compliance: Promote a culture of safety within the foundry, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of managers, supervisors, and operators, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven work environment.

  • Project Management: Oversee major operational projects, including equipment upgrades, new technology implementation, and facility expansions.

Profile

The successful candidate will have

  • Operations management experience in a similar manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional leadership skills, especially with hourly employees
  • Desire to drive the company to success
  • Knowledge of foundry, dye casting, and metallurgical operations
  • Experience overseeing large capital projects
  • Demonstrated success in implementing LEAN and continuous improvements to processes
  • In depth knowledge of safety procedures
