Provides direction for the program and classroom and implements program curriculum. Provides
a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. While creating a positive environment that promotes youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures with advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Essential Functions of the Lead Teacher
- Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying the Y's commitment to DEI and the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
- As a full-time employee you must be dependable, and you will be expected to build consistency and stability in the classroom for the children in your care. Full-time dependability is crucial to this role.
- Implement curriculum within the established guidelines.
- Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans.
- Supervise children, classroom and all activities.
- Make ongoing, systemic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Conduct parent conferences while maintaining positive relationships and effective communication.
- Maintain program site and equipment.
- Maintain required program records.
- Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings and staff training (18 hours per year)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Meets 80% to 100% of the following qualifications:
- Ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law; 18 ECE Credits
- At least 21 years of age
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of
hire date.
- Health form completed within the 30 days of hire date; renewed every 3 years.
- At least 1 year of experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
PREFERED LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS:
- A certificate in DEI or extensive training and work experience.
- An associate degree or higher in ECE or equivalent
- 3 or more years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility.
