Job description

The Electrical Controls Engineer will report into the Senior Vice President of Engineering and the Electrical Engineering Manager out of the Hudson, MA area. In this role, you will be responsible for working with electrical equipment, controls configuration and programming.

Description

The responsibilities of the Electrical Controls Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Define Electrical and Controls Engineering requirements for vacuum and controlled atmosphere furnaces operating up to 3000 C.
  • Analyze equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine the most cost-effective and technically sound solutions.
  • Design Electrical Engineering aspects of vacuum and controlled atmosphere furnaces based on equipment specifications and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, create bills of materials, prepare design modifications if necessary, prepare manuals, and analyze and document test procedure results.
  • Conceptualize, design, and program electrical equipment and controls configurations.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and schematics.
  • Develop and configure PLC and HMI code.
  • Complete and document "as built" drawings, schematics, and other necessary documentation.

Profile

The successful Electrical Controls Engineer will have the following background:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and VBA.
  • Proven experience in configuring and testing PLC and HMI configurations.
  • Experience with some of the following programs is essential:
    • Allen Bradley: Micrologix, SLC500, Control Logix, Factory Talk View ME/SE, Kinetix & PowerFlex Drives
    • GE: Proficy IFix
    • Mitsubishi: FX PLCs
    • Specview
    • Honeywell: HC900
    • Siemens: S7 PLC
    • Yokogawa and Eurotherm instruments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in controls.
