Firmware engineers at Sierra Nevada Corporation research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll conceptualize and design new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle from analog and digital electronic circuit card assemblies to fully integrated systems. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains - air, land, sea, space and cyber. Must-haves: Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline
10 or more years, Electrical Engineering and/or Firmware development experience
Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Precious experience DO-254
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Basic understanding of digital circuit concepts
Extensive experience with FPGA HDL development, simulation and analysis, utilizing the VHDL language
Average to Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Visio)
An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry Preferred: Knowledge of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
Thorough understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools
Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516C
Familiarity with bi-directional traceability
Familiarity with software development processes
Familiarity with Verification, Validation, and Quality Assurance
Progressive experience leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures
