Job description

Under the direction and supervision of radiology manager, the technologist is responsible for performing X-ray and CT examinations as ordered by medical staff. Perform related duties as assigned. Desired candidates have a willingness to learn, adaptive attitudes, and enjoy giving quality patient care. The Radiology department is a small unit of close-knit highly skilled techs that work seamlessly together to offer the best quality of service for our community.

We are willing to train any tech, even without CT Experience.

In-house licensure for ARRT CT is available under the supervision of the ARRT Proctor

$5.00/hr stand-by

time and one half of regular rate for call-back

$3,000.00 annual CEU Budget

$5,000.00 sign on bonus

$2500.00 relocation reimbursement

Student Loan Forgiveness up to $60,000.00/year with 2 year commitment

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

The duties listed below are examples of work typically performed by an employee in this position. 1. Meets with Director of Department concerning policies and procedures, rules and regulations, supplies and equipment needs and problems.

2. Keeps Director informed of department activities, needs and problems.

3. Takes radiology procedure call after regular working hours and weekends on a rotation basis

4. Complies with established policies and procedures of the hospital and the department and with established communications code. Maintains strict compliance with radiation safety regulations.

5. Cooperates with department staff to achieve goals, and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental and public relations.

6. Attends meetings as required such as inservice meetings, staff meetings, and committee meetings and will be held responsible for information and problems discussed and agreed on at said meetings.

7. Keeps up-to-date in field of CT Technology through current literature, attendance at seminars and workshops, etc.

8. Performs routine and moderately complex diagnostic radiological exams and procedures performed and listed in the policy and procedure manual.

9. Determines the technical factors, setting the controls and operating radiographic equipment in order that the position of the body specified received the correct exposure.

10. Covers secretary's desk during breaks.

11. Schedules inpatients and outpatients for CT exams, reviewing physician orders, obtains patient history.

12. Transports patient to and from department as required.

13. Greets patient and explains procedure, allays fears and anxieties.

14. Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:

Knowledge and Ability:

Any combination in training, education, and experience that would provide the knowledge and abilities. A typical way to gain the required knowledge and ability is:

Must hold current registry with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists AND

Current CPR card AND

A minimum 2 years in CT or ability and ambition to train

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Strength, dexterity, coordination, and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods. Strength and stamina to bend, stoop, sit, and stand for long periods of time. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of files, stacks of paper or reports, references, and other materials. Some reaching for items above and below desk level. Some reaching, bending, squatting, and stooping to access files and records is necessary. The manual dexterity and cognitive ability to operate a personal computer using word processing and databases. The ability to communicate via telephone and in person. Light lifting (up to 25 pounds) is occasionally required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed under the following conditions:

Work environment is generally clean and comfortable. Lighting conditions are typically good. Frequent interruptions to planned work activities occur. Changes in days off and shifts are possible and incumbent will be required to be available on short notice. Exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids is common. It is common to engage with family members of residents during emotionally difficult periods of time.
