Job Description:

The primary role is to develop the Medical Assistant Teams and Medical Assistant Leads at SCL Health Medical Group Clinics with a focus on workflows, protocols and team building and development. This role will strongly collaborate with the Clinic Managers and partner with Process Improvement, Ambulatory Informatics, Pharmacy and other system resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for development and coaching of Medical Assistants (MA)
Responsible for developing MA and MA lead clinic orientation and training
materials. Maintain accountability with lead MA to accomplish orientation,
education and training of MA staff
Coach providers and MAs on building trusting work relationships that
maximize patient centered care
Act as a Subject Matter Expert for the MA Scope of Practice
Make quality improvement recommendations by observing work
flows, studying, evaluating and redesigning processes
Responsible for execution of MA role in pharmacy guidelines including vaccine administration process, controlled substances, CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) proficiency and general medication safety practices
Responsible for identifying, creating, implementing and standardizing necessary MA protocols
Participate in clinic QI (Quality Improvement) meetings to support MA driven measures (for example, measures that rely on inreach) and actively participate in clinic process improvement projects that focus on the MA role
Participate in the interview process by providing guidance to lead MAs
Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
ASN required.
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) course completion card from the American Heart Association is required.
Experience working as a Registered Nurse at least 2 years

Preferred:

Bachelor's of Nursing
Preferred: 3+ years of clinical nursing experience.
Primary care nursing &/or Specialty care experience preferred.
1+ years of leadership/management including process improvement and change management experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

An ability to be flexible and adaptable in day to day job duties as the primary
care RN role evolves
An interest in self-motivation and self-learning
Proficient in advocating for MA and RN clinical support roles as they pertain to
primary care patient centered care
Strong understanding of the value of RN role on an integrated primary care
team
Ability to interact frequently with Clinic Manager, Practice Administrators,
Executive Director of Operations and RN Manager (update to appropriate title)
Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business
hours or scheduled shifts is required
Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$31.62 - $47.43
