JOB SUMMARY:
The Overnight Security Officer and RA Support position will provide direct services and support to clients after program hours in addition to any delegated assistance to Medical Unit staff. Conduct safety sweeps to assess security related concerns internally and externally. Assure adherence to state statutes and rules, CARF standards, and federal regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Positively represents the organization and promotes Rimrock's Mission to the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide observation and therapeutic support to assigned patients, to include rounds at the main facility and occasional may need to travel to offsite residential properties to assure security and maintenance of program schedules.
- Report all incidents, unusual events and emergencies immediately to both Supervisors and nurse on duty, according to Rimrock's policies and procedures.
- Track overnight checks in the comm logs.
- Provide a daily activity report.
- Intervene and de-escalate situations when necessary at the Main Facility and at the off-site locations.
- Utilizes Behavioral Observation Forms appropriately to document patient care or behavioral issues to the clinical care team.
- Monitor all visitors and assure that no contraband is brought into the facility by visitors or patients.
- Occasionally perform luggage searches upon admission and transport luggage to storage area.
- Administers substance use drug screen protocol for patients.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and in-services.
- Follow guidelines under code of conduct section in employee handbook.
- Monitor and accompany client on any breaks.
- Complies with regular, predictable, and reliable attendance.
- Escort emergency personnel throughout the building as needed.
- Maintain and secure the area during an incident to limit unnecessary traffic and distraction.
- Other duties as assigned.
Safety-Related Duties
- Provide regular rounds to assure the security of facilities ensuring doors are locked and alarms set after hours.
- Assure all incident report forms are completed according to Rimrock's policies.
- Be familiar with emergency procedures and assist in an actual event or drill situation.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and potential health concerns.
- Serve as a support to the Safety Manager when training or drills are conducted.
- Will sweep all areas to ensure kitchen equipment is turned off.
- Occasional parking lot sweeps.
- Nightly drive by assessment at the off-site facilities.
- Monitor camera activity for anything suspicious or out of the ordinary.
- Accompany other employee to autos before or after shifts.
- Attend safety trainings as needed.
- Report any safety concerns to Safety Manager.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING: High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to communicate and work with patients with addictions. Attend monthly departmental sessions and in-services. View non-violent crisis intervention tapes/videos and attend related training. Prior security experience is required.
CERTIFICATE OR LICENSE:
- A valid driver's license required.
- Must be insurable under Rimrock's driving policy. May not have more than 2 violations/accidents or suspensions/reinstatements within 3 years. May not have any DUI/Reckless/Felony driving convictions within 5 years.
- CPR and First Aid training certification must be obtained within 6 months.
SKILLS: Communication; ability to take direction and work adjunctively with therapeutic team; provide empathy and possess a knowledge and compassion of patients with addiction and implement positive reinforcement of patients. Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft software including Word, Excel and Outlook.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is indoors in an office environment with moderate noise. Intermittent physical effort involving lifting of up to 25 pounds, walking and stooping is required. A typical workday involves walking, standing, reaching with hands and arms, and talking and hearing, approximately 70% of the time. Approximately 30% or less of the time is spent sitting. Normal vision abilities required, including close vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/JOB LOCATIONS: Involves everyday risk or discomfort requiring normal safety precautions in an office setting, meeting room and patient care areas. Work may involve mental and emotional stress. Some driving required. Will work primarily in main facility, although may be required to work at another facility with adult or adolescent patients.
